What to see and do in Daraga, Albay Philippines

Welcome to Daraga, Albay ,Tara...Let's go...

Daraga is a municipality in Albay province, just a few miles away from Legazpi City. It is home to the Cagsawa Ruins and Our Lady of the Gate Parish Church or Daraga Church. From Legazpi City, you can ride a trike or a jeepney that will take you to Daraga. Fare for a trike ride is Php 50.00 that is good for 3 people.

Let's begin with a tour of Daraga Church. It was built in 1772 on top of a hill overlooking Mayon Volcano. It  is a good place to take pictures of Mayon Volcano especially on a fine weather minus the clouds.

Next stop is the Cagsawa Ruins, from Daraga Church, you have to descend a flight of concrete steps that will lead you the main road and from there take a trike that will take you to Cagsawa Ruins. Fare is Php 50.00 good for 3 people. The Cagsawa ruins are  the remnants of the Cagsawa Church built in the 15th century but was entombed leaving only the belfry standing when Mayon Volcano had its devastating eruption in February 1 1814. At Cagsawa Ruins, they are offering ATV ride for a fee and there are also souvenir shops at the entrance where you can buy different Albay products from delicacies to handicrafts.

And finally, don't miss  to stop by at the Daraga branch of Biggs Diner. It is a theme restaurant with an American concept. The food tastes really good  and just within your budget of around Php 200.00 to Php 300.00 per meal.

Until our next trip, see you on Tara...Let's Go.
