DJ on wheels
I will be featuring a good friend of mine with an exceptional talent in music particularly in deejaying. He is not your typical DJ mixing songs at parties but an extraordinary one who in spite of his physical disadvantage, he doesn't gives up and uses this handicap to his advantage. His name is Dodit . I've known him since our grade school days, we were former classmates and schoolmates at ICPS until we graduated in high school. Dodit has muscle dystonia, it is a neurological condition that disables his muscles to function properly thus hindering him to walk and speak properly. He has this condition since he was a kid. I remember him way back in school before our morning class trying vigorously to go up the stairs clinging tightly on the railings since there was still no ramp then in the elementary school building. This serves as his exercise every morning and there was always someone to guide him every time he does his daily routine. His love for deejaying started in the latter part of our grade school days when he got hooked listening to new wave and punk rock music. That was the popular genre at that time. He would invite us over to their former house along Roces Avenue on his birthday and he would mix songs using vinyl records or LP and an old school turntable to our delight. His mixes have evolved since then and so as his gadgets. He is often invited by a music store to provide demo using the latest Numark Mix Pro 3. Aside from deejaying at events, he also earns by selling music compilation he personally mixed. Thanks to his talent, DJ Dodit has gone a long way and although his condition may have prevented him from doing other task, it enabled him to pursue his mission to inspire people to overcome their weaknesses and prevail in what they do best.
