Discover Tangadan Falls, San Gabriel, La Union Philippines

Discover Tangadan Falls, Tara...Let's go...

San Gabriel, La Union

One of the best things to do this summer aside from going to the beach is to try hiking and explore the hidden beauty nature has to offer. Just like what we did  when we were in La Union, a cousin suggested that we go to Tangadan Falls, located in San Gabriel town.

It boasts of huge rock formations and crystal clear water running through its rivers and you have to hike at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours before you can reach the falls.  It's perfect for adventure seekers and for those who want to go extreme, cliff diving is the thing for you, just be extra careful. Don't go when it is still dark, the best time to start hiking is at 6AM. Bring plenty of water and wear sandals with straps or hiking shoes. There are rest stops along the trail and vendors selling snacks and refreshments. There are also cottages you can rent for Php300.00 whether whole day or overnight. Life vests are also available for Php 40.00.  There is  a pathway leading to the top of Tangadan falls where you will see a smaller waterfall. Bring your food if planning to stay overnight, there is a place there where you can cook your meal. You may also want to bring a waterproof pouch for your gadgets and a waterproof camera that is best to take photos when you're under the falls itself. Rent for a bamboo raft to take you under the falls is Php 20.00 per person. Most importantly,  please collect your trash.

because of these steep trails, that it is best to hike when the sun is up

after 30mins of hiking,we reached this rest stop, the locals say the river here is about 20-25 feet deep, good for diving.

HOW TO GET TO TANGADAN FALLS

From Partas Bus station in Cubao or Pasay take a bus going to San Fernando La Union
fare is Php 400-500/person. Upon reaching San Fernando, go to the jeepney terminal near the market and ride a jeep going to San Gabriel, jeepney fare is Php 30-40 and from there take a tricycle that will drop you off to the starting point of the hiking trail going to Tangadan. Tricycle fare is Php 10.00.

But if you take a bus going to Vigan, you can get off at San Juan La Union, a town after San Fernando and from there you can take a tricycle near St John Baptist Church and tell driver to take you to barangay Duplas and Sitio Bagolin, the starting point of Tangadan Falls.

Until my next trip, see you on Tara...Let's go...!!!
