Baguio City Travel Guide / Baguio City DIY Do it yourself tour

Baguio Travel Guide, Tara...Let's go...

Welcome to Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines! We toured this city last February 27- March 1 2015,  for the famous Panagbenga Festival or the Blooming Flowers Festival which is held in the entire month of February but majority of the tourists go up to Baguio on the last week to witness the grand parade with colorful floats covered with flowers.

From Pasay City Manila, we boarded a Victory Bus @ 11:00 PM on February 27, 2015. Fare cost is Php 2100 for  3 people. I also brought along my son who is only 2yrs old that time so his bus fare is free. Travel time is approximately 5-6 hrs  and there will be 2 stopovers along the way. We arrived @ Victory Bus Terminal in Baguio City around 5AM and immediately proceeded to buy tickets for our trip back to Manila since there are a lot of tourists that time and  we were worried that tickets might sold out. We checked in @ Venus Hotel which is near Burnham Park  The hotels' location is also near the route where the parade will pass so you can get a good spot to see the floats. Hotel accomodation for 4 is Php2700.00/day including buffet breakfast for only 2. The room is clean and tidy with television, telephone and hot and cold shower.

Our first destination in Baguio City is at Burnham Park where people can enjoy eating, biking, skating or rent a small banca for 45minutes or you can just simply relax and enjoy the cool weather.

Next destination is Mines View Park which is overlooking the mining town of Itogon,Benguet particularly the gold and copper mines. There's no entrance fee. You can take a souvenir photo wearing an Igorot costume, an ethnic tribe in Baguio, or pose beside a St. Bernard or on top of those colorful horses. We chose to pose for the camera wearing an Igorot costume. This costs Php40.00/adult and Php20.00/children.

Other points of interest in Baguio City include Baguio Cathedral, Lourdes Grotto, The Mansion, Wright Park, Camp John Hay and Session Road. I also recommend Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad Benguet although we did not made it there due to time constraints.

Traveling from one destination to another in Baguio City is easy, there are a lot of jeepneys and taxis. Drivers are also courteous.  Just be prepared for the traffic or longer trips than usual because during the festival season, some roads will be closed or two way roads will turn into a one way to ease congestion in the city. Until  my next trip, see on Tara...Let's go...!!!
