Palawan Travel Guide (Day 1)

Day 1 (Puerto Princesa, Palawan City Tour), Tara...Let's go...

Hi there once again, I'm here to share our experience when we went on a DIY tour in Palawan particularly in Puerto Princesa and the famous Underground River last January 16-18 2016. I will share  where you can stay, places to visit and what activities to do when your're in Palawan as well as expenses incurred during the trip. So sit back, relax and happy reading.
Me and wife boarded Air Asia flight Z424 @ 09:30 AM and occupied seats 26B & C and plane took off 10:00AM, our airfare costs Php 3200.00 that was booked 6months in advance,(tip: you may opt to wait for a better deal from the 3 airline companies(Air Asia, PAL & CebuPacific, sometimes their promo fares to local destinations can go as low as Php1.00). We arrived  @ Puerto Princesa International Airport around 11:05AM and proceeded to the main exit gate located at the right side of the airport. If you booked with a travel agent, there will be people waiting @ the parking area holding signs that show your names on it.

There are also tricycles in the parking area with a fixed rate or you may go out the exit gate and hail a tricycle for only Php 8.00/person depending on your destination. Since our accommodation,  Ezy Stay Pension Inn is just near the airport, our fare only costs Php16.00. And also the tricycle driver offered us a city tour for Php600.00 unlimited time and destinations within the city. Van rentals for city tours costs Php600/person and is good for only 4hours and will only take you to limited places. So we asked our friendly tricycle driver Abet 09277639955 to come back for us after we checked in our bags.

EZY STAY PENSION INN

Since it was nearing lunch time, we decided to eat @ Ka Lui which they say is one of the best restaurants in Puerto Princesa but our inn owner Ray, suggested for us to try Crocodile Sisig @ Crocodile farm since there will be a lot of people @ Ka Lui. So our first destination is Palawan Wildlife Rescue Center or Crocodile farm. Entrance fee is Php40.00/person and there is a tour every hour and we're just in time for the 1:00 PM tour. One thing I remember the speaker told us is the common cause of death in crocodiles is.....STRESS.

@ the Crocodile farm, you can also have your picture taken with a small sized croc free of charge, if you want the souvenir photo, you'll just pay Php180.00.

And of course, as Ray told us, we tried the Crocodile Sisig. There is canteen inside the farm that serves that delicious dish. It tastes like pork only it has more meat than fats.

Other places on our city tour is the Butterfly Garden, Mitra's Ranch, Bakers Hill, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Plaza Cuartel, Palawan Museum and Baywalk.

The entrance fee @ Palawan Museum is Php 100.00/person. Here you will see and learn Palawan's rich heritage and culture.

Entrance fee to the Butterfly garden is Php50.00/person.

Rancho El Mitra...overlooking scenic Honda Bay. Entrance fee is Php 20.00/person

some historical artifacts inside Mitra's house unearthed in Tabon cave.

Bakers Hill is a sprawling recreation where you can relax, play, eat and buy delicious pastries and souvenirs for the family. Costs of souvenir Php643.00.

Immaculate Conception Cathedral....looks like the Baguio Cathedral

Original facade of Plaza Cuartel where Japanese Soldiers burned to death American POW's. No entrance  fee.

We had dinner @ Baywalk courtesy of Kna Boyet, our bill  Php 910.00 (grilled pusit, sinigang na tanigue, 3 rice,1 mango  and 1 banana shake.

That concludes our day 1 in Puerto Princesa.
