An Island called The Pulong Pasig

Pulong Pasig Island

Calauag, Quezon Province, Philippines

By Myrlo A.

Do you want to spend time in a nice and quiet island all by yourself or maybe with your friends? Do you want an island you can call your own just for a brief moment because nobody is around? Then consider going to Pulong Pasig Island.

Pulong Pasig is located in Calauag in Quezon Province. It is an uninhabited island with unspoiled resources. It also has white sand, beach, crystal clear water and with  a nice sandbar. Since it is unpopulated, you are required to bring everything you need. The place is  not yet regulated by the local government of Calauag, so steppng to the island  is free. You just have to pay for the rental services of a small motorized boat that will bring you there. It is accessible by boat, first from the pier of Calauag that will take you to Pangahoy, then another boat that will take you to the island. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the island because there is only one boat in Calauag port that goes to Pangahoy and it leaves at 7AM. Then the last trip from Pangahoy to Calauag will be at 4PM. Just tell the boat owner to pick you up at a specified time so you can catch the boat that goes back to Calauag. You can also stay overnight but for safety concerns, just spend the whole day there.

HOW TO GET TO PULONG PASIG
From EDSA in Cubao or Pasay, you can take a bus going to Calauag Quezon Province.  Or from Starmall in Alabang, you can also take a bus going to Calauag. Travel time is approximately 6-7 hours. Get off at Calauag bus terminal or in the city proper then take a tricycle going to Calauag Port. Tell the trike driver to bring you to the "C" part of the pier. From there, ride a boat for 2 hours that will take you to Pangahoy and take another boat that will then bring you to Pulong Pasig Island, travel time is only 10 minutes.
